Adam Wolnicki

Blue Mountains based photographer Adam Wolnicki was born in Poland and came to Australia in 1982. His first contact with photography was in the early 70’s when he captured and developed his first black and white photos.

Originally an Interior Designer, he is aware of the impact and relation humans have with their building environment. In his photos he wants to show the complexity of this process and the ways it effects our lives.

Environmental Portrait, Still Life and Street Photography is where he is engaging his sense and understanding of design elements and principles.

In June 2021 preview of his current project which presents Polish emigrants from the 1980’s and 1990’s now living in Australia was exhibited at the Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre.

In July 2021 three of his [pol-ozzies] portraits were presented at the “Faces of the Polish Community” exhibition organised by The Polish Art Foundation in Melbourne.

In January - March 2022 his portrait of the artist Samara Kendal was presented as a part of the Blue Mountains Portraits 2022 exhibition at Blue Mountains City Art Gallery - Katoomba.

Photography helps me to slow down and see the world with millions of detail through gentle shades of light, colour and texture.

This is the slowest twinkling of life, often as short as a tiny 1/60th of the second.

My first camera back in 1969.

Druh was designed with Art Deco in mind and built in Poland from 1956.

It used 6X6 film, had a screw-in lens with f8 and f16 aperture, 1/50 s and B shutter.

It could take up to 12 shots pre roll. Over one million were made.

I got one of these in 1969 for my 15th birthday. .
